THE UNDERDOG Helium 8k

TIMELINE

This is where the whole "speed" thing comes into play. When the President of Red says he needs it next week he gets it next week. The entire project from pre-production to post-production took place over 7 days. 3 days of planning, 23 hours straight of shooting, 1 day of editing, and 3 days of exporting / uploading.

COMMUNICATION

With only 7 days until the launch of Red Digital's new 8K camera there was no time for changes. This meant that clear communication was crucial to meet the deadline. Working closely with Red's team and listening to all of their feedback resulted in zero client revisions upon delivery of the final film. 

BACKSTORY

The president of Red Digital contacted us out of the blue frantically needing a film the following week to launch their new 8K Helium camera. 2 hours later we had the location, boxers, and a 25+ person crew lined up to work on this epic project. We had Red engineers on set to ensure everything went smoothly.

The amount of moving parts in a spot like this is crazy. We are talking about road closures, wrapping a Lamborghini to protect it from the harsh conditions, a 20+ person crew, 4 days of production, aggressive running shots on icy roads, police escorts... and did I mention craft services? There are no limitations to what we can pull off.

This was an Abandon Visuals project which meant it had to be over the top. We pulled together our entire team of talented creatives to collaborate on a year end project to show the world what we are made of. Every aspect of this project is polished from the powerful sound design to the beautiful coloring done by our good friends at Company 3. 

THE TECH

Do you need a GSS gimbal mounted to a Polaris Razr, how about a helicopter? Do you need a licensed drone crew? How about 6 Red Weapon Helium 8K cameras, 20 batteries, 2 sets of Leica Summicron-C's, and 20 microphones? We have it all. Tech is the last part of the puzzle just know that we have all the tools to execute all your crazy ideas.

This project is one of many that breaks away from the athletic and automotive work that we do. We are able to work in any industry providing the highest production value possible and we have the team to do it. No subject is off limits for us. 

Connection

We were tasked with creating a video that connected to the demographic in an emotional way...it needed to hit home. This wasn't all about the action it was about showing why you need to be prepared and how you can take action.

DELIVERABLES

We delivered a :30, a :60, and 30+ 8K resolution stills pulled right from the camera. Shooting in 8K allows us to deliver more to the client making us that much more desirable. There is no longer a need for photography alongside film.

THE REDWOODS HDR

simpliSTIC

This is guerrilla filmmaking at it's finest. We didn't bring any of our fancy toys, all we brought was a camera and ourselves. Heavy setups don't always work for moving around quickly and picking off shots. It is important to use the right tools for the right projects.

COST EFFICIENT

Not every film we work on needs to have a gigantic budget. This film was made by 2 people over the course of 1 day on a last minute road trip to the Redwoods. We scouted the location online and utilized our resources to the best of our abilites. The light worked in our favor.

OPPORTUNITY

The night we posted the film we got an email from the lead engineer at YouTube requesting to license it. We were invited to their headquarters to color grade the first HDR film to launch YouTube's new HDR feature that's been covered in Forbes, The Verge, and Mashable.
